Love Animals! See Wild Eagle Nest Live Cam from Big Bear in California

Ruth Sandra Sperling
RSS Designs In Fiber - Get My Handmade in my Etsy Shop -- or Privately

With my Love of Animals - Both Wildlife and Pets - if you have read anything I have written about that online, you will understand how much I LOVE this Live Cam of a Wild Bald Eagle Nest in Big Bear, California!!!

It is on You Tube:  https://youtu.be/5b2dUgK6VV4

I have watched it several times since discovering it - with the Eagles doing different things.

You can check it at any time!

I live in the Antelope Valley - southwest of Big Bear and on the southern side / slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains - and a few times, when walking in the fields in Pearblossom - I was sure that I saw either an Eagle or Falcon or other such large bird way up in the sky - I figured that those large birds probably lived in caverns or trees in the Mountains.

But this is the first confirmation I got of Eagles living in and nesting in the Mountains of Southern California - Big Bear, California, where this Eagle Nest is - is in the San Bernadino Mountains - east of the San Gabriel Mountains, where I live.  I spent a week one December winter years and years ago in Big Bear - nice any time of year with a very nice drive up to there - but in mid-winter, like December, it is often covered in snow -- it was that week I was there.

Apparently, if it is snowing, you can sometimes see it snowing on this Eagles Nest - since it is Live.

I tend to reflect the things I love in Life in my Arts and Crafts - here is a White Eagle I crocheted years ago in Filet Crochet (it sold, too)!

And here are a few more Filet Crochet pieces of Animals that I have made:

Drawing A Picture with Crochet - This Time It's Fantasy Art - A White Dragon!

Yes - you can DRAW WITH CROCHET!

The technique used for this "Crochet Drawing" is Filet Crochet.

I kept the Edging of "The White Dragon in Filet Crochet" simple with a rectangular shape.  It is 14 Inches wide and 18 Inches High - it could be framed against a dark background to bring out the Image of the Dragon - with a mesh background and border.

Filet Crochet is a crochet stitch design involving blocks and mesh - some of the mesh is just square/rectangular empty blocks - and some of the mesh is more complicated with "lacet stitches", which is what is used for the mesh background around the Image of the Dragon in this, "The White Dragon".

Though I got the pattern from one of Elizabeth Hiddleson's Original Books of her Crochet Designs, Volume 29 - my real inspiration is from one of Anne McCaffrey's book on the "Dragonriders of Pern":   "The White Dragon"!  Reading Anne McCaffrey's books about the Dragonriders of Pern, I discovered a love for Dragons - and their smaller cousins, "Fire Lizards" (actually small dragons)!

It was fun to make - though rather complicated!!

I've used Filet Crochet to "draw" a few other pictures - some my own design, some others' patterns - here are pictures of a few of them:

Celebrating Earth Day with Nature Themes in My Designs In Fiber

Ruth Sandra Sperling

Cottontail Rabbit in A Bush
Well - here it is -- my most recent "Inspired by Nature" piece!  And just in time for Earth Day!!

My "Inspired By Nature" pieces are available in my online shops  - or I can do a Custom Order privately!

Though I do Nature themes all the time -- and, for me, Every Day is Earth Day -- this is a project especially for this Spring and for celebrating Earth Day 2011!

You see -- I designed it based on the real Desert Cottontail Rabbits I see in the wild fields in the town where I live (like in the field in the photo of my small town in upper left-hand corner of this blog!) -- they are grayish brown with white Cottontails -- and they run through the fields and then dive under bushes or jump down holes!!

So funny - they make me smile!

Like I said above:  Every Day is Earth Day to me!!

Most people who read my blog already know!

It is how you live -- and how you make decisions in life, such as Re-using, Recycling and therefore Reducing our waste.

And how about Restoring?

And getting Locally Grown produce - or at least growing your own herbs, like I do!  You can grown them inside if you have nowhere outside to grow them!

Now that Spring is really here and the below-freezing nights are over, I am pruning my herbs, which are growing more now -- and I have my first Basil plant of the year already!!  My Rosemary plant of several years is doing very well -- and my perennial herbs:  Chives, Oregano, Stevia and Mint plants are all coming back!!  It so great to have the fresh herbs just outside my door -- and fun, too!!

So, Celebrate Earth Day as a Reminder -- Every Day is Earth Day !!

Here are a few other of my Designs In Fiber that show my love of Nature!!
