Showing Feelings For Mother - Mother's Day - We All Have Different Ways

 I believe that all of us have different ways of showing our feelings - positive or negative - even though life has its rocky periods, I was fortunate in my life in having wonderful experiences and times with the Mothers in my life.   This is a studio photograph taken when I was 18 months old with my Mother Judy who I have dear, dear memories of - and who I have mentioned periodically, because in my early years, she had quite an effect on me - she was an Artist who studied Fine Art (I have her books and notes she left from her studies) - and I use to like to draw and she helped me at home with my drawing as a little girl - and Colors, as I loved even then working with Colors!!

Here is a Photo (on the right) taken by my Father with Me, My Second Mother, Margret - and Her Mother, Bertha - when we were out driving somewhere (before my 2 brothers were born).

When we celebrated Mother's Day - I, who loved doing Handmade - either made Gifts and Cards (my family saved them LOL) - or found Gifts personally chosen for them and also either made a Card - or, my gosh - especially after I was working, bought one.

But each Mother's Day - thought and care went into whatever we did - and the gifts and cards - for each individual person.

So-o-o, of course, I imagine that everyone else puts thought and care into whatever they do - or buy - for Mother's Day.  For most people, Mothers are special in our imperfect world - at least I hope so!

I have joined up with a group of "Indie Sellers" for this Blog Hop - Gifts For Mothers 2015 - most of who make the items they sell themselves (Handmade) - or have found some special Vintage or Antique items to sell.  What we do is Cross Promote - in other words, we all promote each other - and I feel fortunate that these are Sellers I can trust for quality - and some rather distinctive items!!  Just ideas - but maybe someone in some Mothers' lives will find something especially right for one of the Mothers in their life!

-- Or maybe they will inspire someone to make something themself??????

Newest Irish Crochet Lace Heart - In Marsala Reds!

Irish Crochet Lace Heart in Marsala Reds - Handmade By RSS Designs In Fiber


This time I made this "Irish Crochet Lace" Heart with all lustrous DMC Pearl Cotton Threads - with the main color theme being what is being called this year "Marsala" (Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year).

I have had DMC Pearl Cottons in this deep Earthy Wine Red for years and years - I believe DMC named it "Dark Garnet Red" at one time, but when I saw what "Marsala" was, I knew it was that color, which I love!!

For the 3 Multi-layer Irish Crochet Roses inside the Heart, I used a Variegated or Shaded Thread in the same color family - with Marsala Red the darkest and Baby Pink as the lightest in that Shaded Thread.

I did my best, when I photographed it to capture the luster or sheen of the DMC Pearl Cotton Thread - all of their Pearl Cotton Threads have this special "glow" to them - I understand from their description that this comes from the way it is made and twisted in France.  I just love this DMC Pearl Cotton Thread - in all sizes and colors!!

This Deep Red, "Marsala" is an indication of deep Love or Friendship - it seems to me it would make a great gift for any occasion or holiday about Love or Friendship!

I've joined together with a number of others who sell on online venues such as Artfire.com and Etsy and Zibbet - many of us sell our own HANDMADE that we make or design with our own hands, though others sell Vintage and Antique - or Supplies - or Commercial.

But one thing we all have in common is that we have relatively small businesses - and from the interaction I've had with these sellers - we all genuinely Care about what we sell and about our Customers.

If you buy from us - you may get something Distinctive - nothing like the mass-produced items in commercial stores - and you might get something truly One-Of-A-Kind!

Doing the Weekly Blog Hop with Julie Cleveland of Blue Morning Expressions has really turned out to be an experience!!!

This co-ordinated event has resulted in a lot of attention to my RSS Designs In Fiber Artfire Studio!!

I am still adding items to my "2013 Fall and Winter Gift Ideas" Pinterest Board during the third week of it -- but I have been noticing all the COLORS in all of the items!  But then I love COLORS -- and I tend to think in certain "Ranges of Color" - or the Spectrum of Colors or the Color Wheel.

"Greens to Blues" are some of my favorite COLORS -- and I noticed a whole selection of items in those Analogous COLORS!  Analogous COLORS?  Well -- they are COLORS adjacent to each other on the Color Wheel, which are made up of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary COLORS in the same section or quarter of the Color Wheel!

In this case - BLUE is the Primary COLOR, GREEN is the Secondary COLOR -- and all the variations including the "BLUE-GREENS" (Turquoise, Peacock, Teal) are Tertiary COLORS!

So-o-o, I decided to choose some of the items in those colors from my Pinterest Board for the Countdown -- and make the Artfire Collection, which you can see in the Photo above!!!

Pinterest Board:  2013 Fall and Winter Gift Ideas

There's a group of us who have decided to join together and from now until mid-December, we will post some of our own items we sell online, that we think will make good Gifts this Fall and Winter Holiday Season -- and then we will cross-promote them all!!

Obviously, we feel have something valuable to offer the world!

Many of these items are Brand New Handmade -- and some are so Unique as to be One-Of-A-Kind -- in other words you won't find duplicates of some of these items elsewhere!!

I just love Wildlife!!!

I saw this on Pinterest and had to Pin It to my Environmental Interests Board in my Pinterest!  I was re-pinning it from NRDC BIOGEMS.

It has been re-pinned a bunch of times.

I have actually seen Bears in the Wild - including with Bear Cubs!  Just be sure not to get between Momma Bear and her Cubs -- Momma Bears are very protective!!

An additional Note:  Bears need large areas for roaming and getting food -- we need large Wildlife Corridors in areas that are Bear Habitat!  You wonder why you see News Reports about Bears in Communities around California Forests -- those Communities are part of those Bears' Wildlife Corridors!!  It is their home!!

And California has lots of Forests, which are all part of the California Floristic Province, a Globally Significant Biodiversity Hotspot -- and protecting Bear Habitat and Wildlife Corridors is part of Global Biodiversity!!!

Pinterest is great for sharing lots of Images -- but it is also great for Environmental Education, after all, a Picture is worth a 1000 words!!!
