The Front of these Coasters, as shown in the photo above, have a White Star in Navy Blue - with a Red-White-Red Border - intentionally done as an Americana Red. White and Blue theme!!

The Scarf is Hand-Crocheted with Fashion Weight Cotton Light Pink Yarn -- 70 Inches Long and 10 Inches Wide - Being 100% Cotton Lace, it is definitely Summer Wear!

These are the Newest line of Crochet Lace items I decided to make and sell online - Crochet Lace Dangle Earrings - Handmade By RSS Designs In Fiber - these are a Yellow Star In A Circle Dangles - 3 1/2 Inches in Diameter, which is considered "Extra Large" or "Jumbo" for Earring Dangles.
These are basically a Crochet Lace Round in a certain pattern - the type of which I make all the time - but for Earrings, they are tightly stitched and then starched to stay in shape when attached to Earring Wires.
I had gotten some instructions/patterns for making Crochet Jewelry - mostly Chokers or Necklaces or Earrings - with Beads and I made one Choker with Wood Beads some time back:
But I decided to do more - in more colors and designs - and I have made a little bit of headway - and my first newer project was this longer Beaded Pendant Necklace with Matching Earrings in Aqua.
The Aqua Beads and the Pendant are actually crocheted onto the crochet thread strands, that are crocheted in a design by Maggie Petsch Chasalow that I like, though I adapt it to my idea of what to make!
Then I had the idea to take one of my Wood Hoop projects with a Filet Crochet design inside it of a "Bird of Peace" (Dove with Olive Branch) - and make it a short Necklace/Choker:
I really enjoy crocheting with Crochet Threads - which these are all crocheted with! Making a Necklace / Choker / Earring Strand with Crochet Threads (sometimes doubled up) makes for a very lightweight Jewelry piece. I use very strong crochet threads, which hold up well - and are washable and colorfast!

Well, I have a huge appreciation for One-Man Acoustic Guitar Acts -- and when I saw a Poster from the 2017 "Malibu Guitar Festival" and saw Tommy Emmanuel's name on the list of Guitarists playing, I thought, "Hm-m-m - maybe this is real music!"
Who is Tommy Emmanuel and why did his name on the list of Guitarists draw my attention?
I first heard of Tommy Emmanuel from an old friend from my University of Illinois College Coffee House Days, Musician and Producer Pete Berkow, who I did a blog feature on - and Pete gave me a video of Tommy Emmanuel that he had produced some time back. Well, Pete knows that I appreciate Acoustic Guitar playing from our College Days -- and I am glad to see that others do, too!
Tommy Emmanuel is really a One-Man Act - and he can really, really play that Guitar!!!
I love it!

I think the Music speaks for itself!
(Yes - I go out to Malibu once in a while from the Antelope Valley -- out by Pacific Coast Highway and Trancas Canyon and Zuma Beach - love the Ocean Air all year long in all weathers, LOL!!! -- But not usually for Music Festivals, LOL!)
Here is a Video from the Art Institute of Chicago about the Van Gogh "Bedroom" Painting in their Collection.
Seeing the Van Gogh "Bedroom" Painting from the Art Institute of Chicago - and getting up close enough to see the brush strokes - was really wonderful!!! I loved it - along with the other Van Gogh Paintings they have!! My other favorites of Van Gogh there are "The Mulberry Tree" and "Portrait of A Peasant" - I just love the colors - these two Paintings and the "Bedroom" Painting are particularly vibrant!
Though I like quite a number of Painters, that I have been exposed to since I was a little girl - the Impressionists, Late-Impressionists and Neo-Impressionists have been my favorites since then - especially the Landscape, and some of the Portrait and Still Life Paintings.
-- And the walk in the Sculpture Garden was really, really nice - I particularly enjoyed the Ficus Tree, which is really huge!!
I have my own Art Books - several on Van Gogh, one on Renoir, one on Monet - one on Impressionism - one on Georgia O'Keeffe - Art Books from my Mother Judy, including some from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York -- and I have some Museum Studies from the Art Institute of Chicago - and Photography Books - and Fiber Art Books - and some biographies. I just love Art!!
I really liked the Renior Painting I linked to above - the "At Renoir's Home, rue St. Georges" -- I thought it was really funny - as one of the Impressionist Painters I really like, Camille Pissarro, is in it!!
One of the other things I really enjoyed at the Norton Simon was this letter written by Van Gogh to his friends, the Ginoux Family, on display. I read the translation - and got a souvenir of it. I also have the book, "Dear Theo" edited by Irving Stone (Van Gogh's letters to his brother, Theo) - reading some of those letters gives one an insight into the actual person, Vincent Van Gogh.
The Van Gogh "Bedroom" Painting from the Art Institute of Chicago is at the Norton Simon Museum only through March 6, 2017.
You can always go to Chicago and go to the Art Institute of Chicago ... Ha!
But I thought I would also share this other video from the Art Institute of Chicago, "Under Cover: The Science of Van Gogh's Bedrooms" - which I found really interesting - but then I find color science fascinating!!
In doing my Handmade, I like to try different Stitch Patterns and different ideas.
This is the first time I did the Crochet Spike Stitch in a Square.
I think the color combination of Darker Chocolate Brown and a Light Powder Blue is a great contrasting color theme.
Brown is a "composite color" or "tertiary color" and especially the Dark is a "Low Intensity" mix of Red, Yellow - and Black.
The combinations of Red and Yellow in it put it on the opposite side of the "Color Wheel" from Light Blue - meaning that "Chocolate Brown and Powder Blue" are a complementary, contrasting color theme -- and I love to work in such color themes!!!
I'd been looking at this Spike Stitch Square pattern for some time to make something - and I thought this was a good opportunity to do it!! It is on Etsy.
